installation

The flowmeter may be installed in any attitude, but should be normal to the fluid flow. If an isolation valve is used it must be of the through bore type with a clear concentric opening of at least 50mm diameter.

For fluid flow measurement it is desirable to have a minimum of 10 pipe diameters of straight pipe upstream of the measuring position and 5 pipe diameters downstream. For gas flows these should be increased to 40 and 10 diameters respectively. This will help to reduced the effects of fluid swirl, asymmetrical and similarly undsirable flow conditions. Due to fluid drag effects, there are limitations on the maximum permissable insertion length and pipeline penetration with different fluids and velocities.








velocity profiles

Jestim offer a software package that runs on a laptop computer to enable the velocity profile or mean flow in a pipeline to be rapidly determined. It also incorporates a data logging feature for short term logging with an insertion flowmeter. Profiles and data logs may be saved to disk for later downloading to a PC or workstation.
